Addilyn's First Bee-Day
I am soooo excited to finally share all of the details of Addilyn’s first bee-day. I spent many hours on Pinterest searching for bee & beehive-themed craft, recipe, and party ideas… and this is what we came up with! This is such a cute first birthday party idea for a little girl or boy. Bee-themed party favors, bee-themed cake, bee-themed snacks — this party was the most fun to plan and put together! I can’t believe how quickly time is passing.

Outfit: Yellow Bubble Shorts // “One” Bee Onesie
I could’ve just died over how cute Addie was on her birthday! We loved this “One” bee onesie from a small shop on Etsy, paired with the yellow bubble shorts from Amazon. Addilyn had this huge smile on her face almost the entire party. It’s like she knew the whole day was about her and everyone was there to see her!
Decorations: Balloon Garland // “One” Balloons // Greenery // Faux Daisies
We mostly stuck to decorating this bar in our dining room! It felt really good to have one spot to plan the decor for, and it helped me keep the decor simple. The balloon garland was the MAIN attraction as far as decor went. We got it from Amazon for super inexpensive. If you plan to purchase one like this, I suggest getting a balloon bump to go with it! We blew ours up the old-fashioned way and we were all feeling a bit light-headed afterward. It only took about an hour, though. Super easy to put together!
Decorations: Greenery // Faux Daisies
Cupcakes: Recipe // Candy Bees
Party Favors: Tutorial // Candy Melts // Candy Eyes // Cellophane Bags // “Thanks for Bee-ing Here” Party Favor Tags
This two-tiered tray is a part of our usual home decor, and it worked perfectly for the party! Cupcakes on the bottom rack and party favors on the top. For favors, we simple decorated Oreos and added a cute tag! We used chocolate candy melts, covered the Oreos in Yellow, then added black stripes + candy eyes. Then, we covered mini-pretzels in Black chocolate and added them under the Oreos as “wings.” You can find the tutorial we used here! The custom tags from Etsy were the cutest part, though.
Cake: Recipe // Candy Bees // Hive Candle // Cake Topper // Faux Daisies
For the cake, we did a small, banana sponge cake. The cake was for Addilyn to smash, and we had cupcakes for everyone else. It was super fun and easy to decorate with the hive candle, candy bees and faux daisies! The cake topper was ordered custom from Etsy.
Donut Hole Hive: Styrofoam Cone // Bee Toothpicks
People were probably most impressed with the donut tower than anything else! We picked up 100 donut-holes the night before the party, and the morning of, added them to the styrofoam cone. We placed the toothpicks first, then added the donuts. Do finish it off, we added the cute bee cake-toppers that we got from Etsy.
High Chair: “One” Banner // Greenery
Addilyn’s high-chair turned out so beautiful. And it was so easy to do! I knew I wanted it to be decorated, as there would be plenty of photos of her in it when it was time for the cake smash. The “one” banner we used was custom-made by my Mother-in-Law, but I linked a similar one above!
Time Capsule (These were the invitations we used, also!) // Bee Themed Monthly Photo Banner
We set up a little “time-capsule” station for all of our friends & family to write notes for Addilyn to read in the future. We got a PDF for the sign and the notecards from Etsy, and printed them online at VistaPrint! It was so special to get to read all of the sweet notes to her. We put all of her monthly photos on display above the note-writing station, so people could see how much she’s grown in the last year as they wrote her something special.

Table Banner: Made by my Mother-in-Law
Food is the best part of any party, right? We slid over our dining room table to make room for people to hang out in our home. We picked up some platters from Sam’s Club,, put out some chips and lemonade, and called it a day. On the food table, we displayed some of our favorite photos of Addie through the year!
